Equal Opportunities

All families have needs and values that arise from their social and economic, ethnic and cultural or religious backgrounds.  Children grow up in diverse family structures and close links with extended families of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins while others may be more removed from close kin or may live with other relatives or foster carers. Some children have needs that arise from disability or impairment or may have parents that are affected by disability or impairment. Twiglets nursery ensures that our service is fully inclusive in meeting the needs of all children. We recognise that children and their families come from many backgrounds and all are welcome.

Twiglets tries, where possible, to incorporate all religious and cultural backgrounds into the nursery calendar. Religious festivals and celebrations are discussed and learnt about for all major religions. If there are any specific festivals that parents want celebrated which aren’t already catered for, this can be arranged with the Principal and Nursery Staff.

To ensure all children are given equal opportunities within the nursery, Twiglets provides a secure and accessible environment in which all our children can flourish and in which all contributions are considered and valued. Wherever possible, we include and value the contribution of all families to our understanding of equality and diversity. Twiglets provides positive non-stereotyping information about gender roles and diverse family structures, diverse ethnic and cultural groups and disabled people. Staff, are encouraged to improve their knowledge and understanding of issues of anti-discriminatory practice, promoting equality and valuing diversity. This is done to ensure inclusion is a thread that runs through all of the activities of the setting and foster good relations between all communities.
